Commitment to Veterinary Education

At Pets‘n’Vets, we are very proud to offer work experience and placements to those seeking a career in animal healthcare, be that as Vets, Veterinary Nurses or Animal Care Assistants.

Throughout our 40-year history, Pets‘n’Vets has opened its doors to prospective vets. Young people from 14 years old are invited to commit to one evening a week helping out in our practices. The position, known as ‘pixie-ing’ is invaluable to those wishing to gain a place in the highly competitive Veterinary Surgery university course.

Pets‘n’Vets Pollokshaws is delighted to hold the accolade of one of the veterinary practices that provides the six Veterinary Universities with the highest number of students from a single practice.

Once on the veterinary course, the Pets‘n’Vets relationship with the students continues throughout their university careers; Pets‘n’Vets serves as the mentoring practice – a place in which students can serve their required experience, talk over cases with vets, and come to continue learning. Each of our current partners has followed this path, as have many other vets including those in positions within veterinary academia and research, as well as vets working in many other veterinary practices and throughout the veterinary world.

Further to this, Pets‘n’Vets Pollokshaws, Pets’n’Vets East Kilbride, and Queens Park Veterinary Surgery are ‘Veterinary Nurse Training Practices’. This status allows Pets‘n’Vets to provide the mandatory experience required by those undertaking training as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

The Pets‘n’Vets Family’s commitment to veterinary education is founded in its very roots, and we will continue to fulfil this vital role into the future.
